If you have been following me on social media, you know I have been fascinated by essential oils lately. I purchased a diffuser and a kit with 8 different oils last month and have since been experimenting with each oils functionality.
My job as a writer for an essential oil based skincare line inspired this new obsession, since I needed to research the benefits of these oils in order to write about them.
Now that my knowledge is expanding, I want to share how I use my current favorite blend: Rosemary and Orange.
1. Increase Productivity
I leave my diffuser on my kitchen table, where I do the majority of my work. On days that I feel sluggish or adverse to confining myself to a chair, I add a few drops of rosemary and few drops of sweet orange oil to the diffuser. Together, these oils give off a very pleasant, almost mesmerizing aroma. The combination almost immediately wakes me up.
Rosemary essential oils stimulate mental activity and is excellent for the brain. It can help with depression, mental fatigue, and even forgetfulness.
Orange essential oils are similar in that they create a happy, relaxed feeling which lifts the mood and actually raises the heart rate.
I find this the perfect way to start my day and increase my productivity.
2. Detoxifying the Skin
Add a few drops of each oil to a bowl of hot water. After cleansing your face, lean over the bowl of steam and cover your head with a towel to keep the steam close to you.
This not only provides relaxation and a nice cleansing of the pores, but both of these oils are great for the skin. The first time I tried this, I felt like I just came back from the spa. My skin felt supple and smooth after just one time under the essential oil infused steam.
Rosemary contains antiseptic qualities that can treat oily skin, acne and eczema. It can also give your skin a healthy glow when used regularly. Orange essential oils provide quick and effective relief from inflammation, both internally and externally. It also contains antiseptic properties to fight acne.
Despite the fact that this blend stimulates brain function, it can also help you wind down. Rosemary reduces cortisol levels in the body, which elevates stress. Orange oils can help you sleep better and play a role in improving overall health and wellness.
I suggest diffusing this blend when meditating. I found it both kept my mind alert, but also provided a relaxing sensation so I was able to sink into my meditation but not feel sleepy when doing so.
